What happens during an intake appointment?

Before your appointment, you’ll fill out a brief intake form that gives an overview of your history, current concerns, and what you’re hoping to address. Having this information ahead of time allows us to start our conversation with a clearer direction.

During the visit, you’ll have an open, supportive space to talk about what’s been challenging—whether that’s intrusive thoughts, anxiety, eating disorder symptoms, mood shifts, stress, or the emotional changes that can come with pregnancy or the postpartum period. We’ll discuss what you’ve been noticing day to day, what feels unmanageable, and what you’d like to feel more in control of.

We’ll look at your wellbeing from a holistic perspective, exploring sleep, nutrition, movement, stress levels, routines, and support networks. We can talk about therapy approaches that you may benefit from, support for eating disorder recovery, or how to coordinate care with your therapist, dietitian, OB/GYN, midwife, or any other members of your treatment team.

When appropriate, I may suggest lab work to assess for medical factors that can influence mental health—things like thyroid changes, iron levels, inflammation, or vitamin deficiencies. For patients who are pregnant or postpartum, we can also consider labs and physical factors specific to that stage.

We’ll review treatment options together. This may include medication, supplements, behavioral strategies, or lifestyle adjustments based on your goals and comfort level. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, we’ll discuss medication safety and risk/benefit considerations so you feel fully informed.

By the end of our time together, we’ll create a collaborative, personalized plan that supports your mental health and aligns with your values. As we continue working together, we can adjust this plan as your symptoms change or as life circumstances shift.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We are in network with Aetna, Cigna, Optum/United Health Care, Regence/BCBS, Providence, and Pacific Source.  As insurance acceptance can change, it is best to contact the office if you have questions about your specific insurance. An estimate can be given, but you are responsible for verifying your eligibility and benefits.

We also accept cash-pay clients. Clients who pay out-of-pocket can be provided with an invoice (superbill) to provide to their insurance for possible reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company to determine what, if any, reimbursement you will receive.
